Before leaving San Marino I got the wonderful moscato wine to take home.. yeah!
After breakfast that morning we had a short
while to explore the small town of San Marino on our own and make our way to
one of the local castles for some fantastic views. This medieval town was truly a refreshing
break from the past few hectic days.
Robert and I walked up (almost climbing up the steep streets
and paths) to two of the towers where we took some photos of the castle and
said to ourselves “what did you do today” “ oh not much, had my coffee and
walked around the local castle up in the mountains”- it almost seemed
surreal. We very much appreciated the
timing of this city for had we started here we wouldn’t have had as much
appreciation to the small town- the hustle and bussel of the bigger cities puts
it all into perspective. So far I think
this part of the country is my grandpa’s favorite as it has a very rich
agricultural background and scenic views.
After San Marino we headed back to Rome with a stop in Assisi.
